American Beauty-Remake
I developed my Photoshop skills by making a remake of a film poster of my choice. I had decided to choose the poster of the film American Beauty. In order to remake the poster, I had used Photoshop since I felt that it is the best software to use when editing photos. Even though I don't have professional experience on this software in particular, I tried my best to make the remake of the poster as interesting as possible. The genre of the original movie is romantic drama, therefore I thought it would be interesting to make the poster into something completely different. In this particular case I remade the poster into a horror film poster. As you can see above, I changed the rose into a knife and I changed the title from American Beauty into American Nightmare.
When it came to using Photoshop, I started off by using the Magic Wand Tool as well as the Crop Tool in order to remove the rose and add in a knife. I used the Horizontal Type Tool in order to change the title and casts' names into a new font as well as a colour. Even though the lighting in the two different posters above looks rather different, I didn't change much of the lighting except for parts where it looked much darker on one side than the other. Even though I haven't watched this specific movie, I had researched different posters on the internet and came to a conclusion of choosing this specific poster. I personally enjoyed doing this specific task since I got to use Photoshop more than I have ever done before, which means now I have much more experience of using it. From using Photoshop, I got to gain more skills which can be useful to me later on throughout our coursework.
